MTOIZ’s Contribution to Turkish Economy

Mersin Tarsus Organize Industrial Zone (MTOIZ) was established with the purpose of stable development of underdeveloped areas, to overcome the problems of industrialization and to carry the Turkish Industry to the future by means of encouraging the development of underdeveloped regions without creating regional instabilities and by drawing industrial investments to these regions in a frame of planned development, as it is with the other 225 Organized Industrial Zones in Turkey.
However, Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone, has created an exemplary industrialization concept by uniting its self-confidence and sources with knowledge, technology and patience and has provided the economical development of the Zone by its strategic approach aiming to unite the local with the national, the national with the universal and by the support of the believing and exemplary entrepreneurs.
MTOIZ has a vision greater than local development in  three main areas:creating innovations, investment and export. With these factors in mind,MTOIZ is a a leading example for the rest of the  organized industrial zones.
Since 1993 to date MTOIZ has greatly contributed to the nation’s economy.The success of Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone’s certainly is not a coincidence; service,being up-to-date, making decisions with the aim of decreasing the costs of inputs of the industrial establishments by its stable management and constantly improving the present conditions to increase the competition power of its industrialist has brought MTOIZ to today.

MERSİN ON THE ROAD TO BE GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED

Being situated on Turkeys most Fertile soils and being a landlord to 1 of the 21 free zones in Turkey and also having the first established economical and Industrial Ministries Mersin seems to be a key to Turkey’s economical growth especially when taking into consideration as Mersin having being religiously the most cosmopolitain city in Turkey with three major religious denominations living together harmoniously. With Turkeys one of the largest ports being in Mersin and being the first city in Turkey to plan a modern strategy project Mersin seems to be on the road to Global Recognition.
Among Turkeys firsts Mersin has a strategical location which opens to the Middleeast and Mediterranean, and  is very rich in newly found energy sources such as wind and solar as well as having a very preserved nature and very turistic regions , developed infrastructure (port, roads, rail and airways, freezone,organized agricultural zone,technopark)..the soil is extremely fertile with many young and adventurous people willing to work and strive towards globalization of Mersin.
Distric strategic  innovation and follow through;Mersin’s unemployment  is constanly declining and the percentage of students are rising which shows that mersin is striving toward strategic innovation by conforming to and attending many  international programs.There is also a rise in business partnerships both with in the district as well as world wide with others who are also strategically innovative.The formation of a  Distric Development agency and the national governments focus on encouragement of territorialization and support on R&D also support of innovation  progressively shows that Mersin is striving to be known globally as well as domestically.Strategic innovation in the district will open the door for Mersin to be a Name Brand city worldwide.
Regional Innovation Strategies of Mersin(RIS-Mersin) is a project funded by EU’s 6th Framework Programme for encouraging to develop innovation strategies and to strenghten existent innovation policies.   RIS-Mersin is one of the 33 project approved to be funded between 2005 and 2008 in whole Europe.  It is the first and only RIS project of Turkey and it will be a giant step for our country’s adoption to the international standards.
The consortium which has been established  with the coordination of ODTU Technopark  and  with the participation of , Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mersin University , Mersin Tarsus Organized Zone and BIC Epirus from Greece ,has prepared the Mersin’s innovation strategy and with the effective contribution of  the factories , industrialist and workers , briefly entire livings will practice the the question of  “What Can We Do For Mersin To Have High Quality Living”
