The Industrial Zone being the backbone to Mersin Tarsus will attract many entrepeneurs to this well organized and planned project which pays special attention to the good maintenance and up-keeping of the agricultural lands and it’s surroundings which will add to Mersin’s economical growth drastically. Keeping all these factors in mind the planned Industrial Zone is a very important and in high demand by all mersinites alike.

The most important characteristics of MTOIZ is its logistics advantage coming from Mersin’s transportation networks including airways, highways, railways, and seaways.  Mersin is the major gate for the Central and South-East Anatolia to access foreign markets.

Also, Mersin who is the landlord of one of the largest ports in Turkey is a major advantage for entrepreneurs to invest in this very valuable and soon to be prosperous region.

While Mersin Tarsus Industrial Zone is 380 hectares the zone has achieved all its needs and requirements. There are currently 103 firms in operation, 17 firms in various stages of construction  and 4 firms are in the architectural planning stages and needless to say there are no parcels currently available except the expansion area..Presently MTOIZ is able to accomadate 6000 people but plan to increase this number to 10,000 within one year of operation

Expansion Zone ; Having all architectural planning completed for 280 hectares and planning to have all infrastructure work completed by the end of 2007 the Mersin Tarsus Industrial Zone will definitely contribute enormously to Turkey’s economy as well as boost Mersin’s economy drastically, while continuing to strive to be a depositing city in all aspects.

To achieve scale economies in production and marketing ,with the unity of Mersin Governor’s office, MCCI, MTOIZ , and many successful samples throughout the world brought the idea of  “Mersin Organized Agricultural (Greenhouse) Zone” and the spaces has been chosen on the 275 hectares land and in order for the works for planning process to start MTOIZ is waiting for the approval document  from the Turkish Republic’s Ministry of Industry and Trade.

By acting as a bridge in between MersinUniversity and the Industry, arisement of Technology Development Region (also known as SciencePark of Mersin, Technoscope)  will play a major role in the industrialization process .Also by the establishment of Mersin Tecnoscope ; Mersin and its surrounding industries have attained their research centers needed for advancement.
